Frequently Asked Questions
Acupuncture & Healing Therapies
What is acupuncture, and how does it work?
Acupuncture is a gentle, holistic therapy that helps the body return to its natural state of balance.
Using very fine, hair-thin needles placed on specific points, acupuncture supports the smooth flow of qi — the body’s vital energy — while also influencing the nervous system, muscles, and circulation.
These points help release tension, calm stress, reduce discomfort, and encourage the body’s own healing response.
Most people find the experience deeply relaxing, often settling into a sense of warmth, ease, and clarity during treatment.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most patients feel little to no discomfort. Many describe a warm, relaxing sensation and often drift into a peaceful rest during treatment.
What conditions do you treat?
We provide personalized care for a wide range of health concerns, supporting both the body and mind. Common reasons people visit include:
Pain management: Back, neck, shoulder, joint, or muscle pain
Stress and anxiety: Promotes relaxation, emotional balance, and mental clarity
Sleep difficulties: Supports deeper, more restorative sleep
Digestive issues: Helps regulate digestion, bloating, and appetite
Women’s health: Menstrual irregularities, fertility support, menopause symptoms
Fatigue & low energy: Helps restore vitality and overall energy levels
Nerve revival & neuropathy support: Supports nerve health, sensation, and functional recovery
Immune support & wellness: Helps strengthen the body’s natural defenses and maintain overall balance
Every treatment is tailored to your unique needs using the principles of Chinese medicine. We consider your health history, lifestyle, and current symptoms to create a plan that addresses both immediate concerns and long-term well-being.
Many patients find that even if they come in for a specific issue, acupuncture often improves overall energy, mood, and vitality.
How long are appointments?
New patient visits are about 60–75 minutes. Follow-ups typically last 45–60 minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone heals at their own pace. Acute conditions may shift within a few treatments, while chronic issues may need a series of consistent visits. We’ll create a treatment plan together based on your goals.
Do you use other therapies besides acupuncture?
Yes — in addition to traditional acupuncture, your session may include specialized therapies to enhance your results, such as:
Cupping: Gentle suction to release tension and improve circulation
Gua Sha: Smooth scraping to relieve tight muscles and promote circulation
Heat therapy: Warming herbs or moxibustion to support energy flow and relaxation
Acupressure: Gentle pressure to key points for relief and balance
Electro-Acupuncture: Mild electrical stimulation applied to acupuncture points to enhance therapeutic effects, improve nerve function, and support faster recovery
Herbal recommendations: Customized formulas to support your unique health needs
Each therapy is carefully chosen to complement your acupuncture treatment and support your overall wellness.
Cupping, Gua Sha & Herbal Medicine
What is cupping?
Cupping uses light suction to release tight muscles, improve circulation, and encourage the body’s natural healing response. Many people find it deeply relaxing.
Will cupping or gua sha leave marks?
You may notice temporary circular or blush-colored marks — signs of improved circulation. They usually fade within a few days.
Do you offer Chinese herbal medicine?
Yes. Herbal formulas are selected specifically for your constitution and diagnosis. They may be recommended alongside acupuncture to enhance results.
Do herbs taste bitter?
Some formulas do, but many patients adjust quickly. If you prefer, we also offer gentler-tasting options such as herbal-tea pills.
Preparing for Your Appointment
What should I wear?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing makes it easier to access acupuncture points on your legs and arms.
Can I eat before my appointment?
Please avoid coming on an empty stomach. A light meal 1–2 hours beforehand is ideal.
How will I feel afterward?
Most people feel calm, grounded, and clear. Occasionally, mild fatigue or emotional release may occur — both are normal signs that the body is rebalancing.
Is there anything I should avoid after treatment?
We recommend taking it easy. Avoid heavy workouts, alcohol, or very hot baths for a few hours.
